Taft ISD is considering an extended calendar–moving to 210 school days–for Petty Elementary. With the additional time at school, we would provide more support and learning opportunities for our students to boost academic achievement while making school more fun.

since 2019 the elementary has been on a mission to improve student outcomes in that time we have gone for me D rated camp with failing marks for student achievement to a b-rated campus in 2021-2022 B's game came from initiatives such as implementing high-quality instructional materials a focus on targeted small group instruction and after-school tutorials we are proud of the hard work and progress from teachers students and families and we want to continue on the path of making would repay the best we can be next phase of our journey woodroe Petty Elementary is considering a state-sponsored opportunity of additional school days where students and teachers can increase learning time through a longer school year but with the possibility of shorter days to help with student and teacher burnout with the extra time students can receive the support they need to grow academically and participate in enrichment activities such as dance or cooking to increase excitement about coming to school in addition to having their children clothes academic apps may also benefit from having a decrease need for childcare teachers would receive additional time to lesson plan and be able to collaborate during the school day so they wouldn't have to take work home with them additional time will also provide teachers the ability to slow down the pace curriculum and allow for personalized and project-based learning all with the possibility of working shorter instructional days to allow more planning and flexible pacing while receiving additional pay this is the third year that schools across Texas have participated in the additional days opportunity and the date aligns with pass mission of improving student outcomes 7 Elementary campuses across the state implemented a design school calendar 2021 to 2022 school year with the support of Texas Education Agency funding these campuses on average growth and their accountability rating of / 15.5 * the Statewide average of 3 points every Camp has met or exceeded beginning in August 2023 we went to continue improving student outcomes by providing more time for academic support and more fun enrichment activities which will makes it is excited to come to school for additional days initiative at Woodrow Petty Elementary would include a 210 day calendar repurposing and incorporating time that was previously spent on summer school and professional development and while there would be more days of school the days will include more Play Time created Eurasian and fun enrichment activities to help teachers and students avoid burnout the redesign calendar would follow the holiday schedule found in the Traditional School calendar so all students will still have the same holiday breaks including Thanksgiving win brake and spring break as well as all other major holidays off at the same time at the other schools in the district here at Taft ISD we are excited to propose the additional days opportunity to our families at woodroe Petty Elementary data shows that more time is school is beneficial to students we receive feedback from our staff and now we want to hear from you to help us make a decision at the end of this video a q r code will appear for you to scan with your mobile device and take the parent survey please help us continue to improve at woodroe Petty Elementary
